Clitics in English and Bosnian

Summary/Abstract: This paper explores the syntactic behavior of clitics in English and Bosnian, with a special overview on their position in phrases and clauses of these languages. I will first write about the general characterization of clitics in some prominent linguistic works, then I will present what is said about clitics in some referential grammars of English and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian. Clitics have been the subject of many discussions in generative grammar, so I will first give an overview of basic theoretical approaches to this phenomenon, then I will focus only on verbal auxiliary enclitics and study their position in English and Bosnian.
