Summary/Abstract: Under the influence of Kant’s apriorism, Ion Petrovici built his logic based on the idea that laws of thought are laws of nature. On the other hand, being concerned about the fate of metaphysics as knowledge of an absolute reality, he rejected the unequivocal gap between phenomenon and thing in itself. The present paper explains this apparent inconsistency in Petrovici’s thinking by discussing the implications of two kinds of approaches to transcendental idealism: metaphysical and epistemological.
