Summary/Abstract: From the perspective of anti-terrorist action, Islamic terrorism would primarily have to be considered as terrorism, and only then would other considerations appear on the agenda. If the international fight against terrorism is not understood and carried out consistently along this line, there is a risk that the war waged on this behalf in Afghanistan against Bin Laden and his Taliban protectors may not produce the effects expected by and promised to the world. All this, of course, applies only under the assumption that the breaking of terrorism is indeed the actual goal of the announced ‘long war’. Otherwise, the only sure things are that the Taliban regime did fall, that Bin Laden is, in all likelihood, going to face his martyr’s heaven and that some broader geo-political goals will, probably, be carried out – but that terrorism will continue to survive in a ‘post-terrorist’ way.
