Summary/Abstract: Basically, the article suggests that a look backwards may identify rather easily some of the major consequences of the period of war which are relevant to a religious analysis of the region of the former Yugoslavia. In this way, some incontestable facts ought to be underlined. Moreover, the recognition of such facts is considered to be a precondition for an open and promising debate, since these exist beyond all possible differences in interpretation of some of the solemn declarations of senior religious dignitaries.
