Summary/Abstract: Contemporary society has led to dramatic changes in the perception of man and his dignity. The question that has troubled philosophy since its inception is the attempt to define man and his nature. In post-modern times, shaded by pronounced materialism, where values acquire a different character, dignity as the totality of virtues possessed by man is under attack of ”blank” politics, which misses the ethical. This is why the task of contemporary political ethics is to search for lost dignity and strive towards a decent society, which respects and appreciates dignity. This essay aims to identify certain facts and focus the debate towards what dignity is, why it matters and why it needs to be the subject of political ethics in future political and philosophical debate. For only a society that respects man as he is can be considered fair and good. The aim is to give theoretical outlines to its contours, and this essay is an attempt in that direction.
