Summary/Abstract: Nikolaj Jakovlevich Marr’s personality as well as his creative inheritance in the history of Soviet and post- Soviet linguistics have proved to be a highly controversial issue. Marr’s name regularly rises like a phoenix from the ashes of oblivion especially in the periods of theoretical commotion and revision of paradigms. It occurs from time to time because Marr’s demonstrative dogmatism of ideas annoys an intellectual scientist and it breaks the order of traditional theoretical constructions. The authors of the article having acknowledged certain correspondences between Marr and their conception, i.e. functional pragmatism attempted to show these elements from the position of a modern scientific paradigm.
