Defining Reading as a Foreign Language Teaching Activity

Summary/Abstract: Reading represents a notion, which is difficult to define in a more precise epistemological framework; elements of psychology, textual linguistics, sociology and teaching methodology are necessary in order to clarify this concept. Our article attempts to discuss the requirements of using reading in the foreign language teaching process: the multiplicity of the source-knowledge and the problem of the status and vection of didactic knowledge. Thus, definitions of reading in the language teaching process could be considered against a complex background, since it is useful at the level of didactic conceptualization and school methodologies.
