Anton Štefánek – an underrated figure in our history - a brief profile

Summary/Abstract: Anton Štefánek – sociologist, politician, journalist and educator was a prominent yet undervalued figure in Slovakia of the 20th century. Štefanek‘s public activity in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Czechoslovak Republic (CSR) involved a number of different areas. His sociological work encompassed the period between the late 19th century and the latter half of the 20th century including the evolution of Slovak sociological thought. However, the most important from the perspective of a historian, political scientist and sociologist was his general perception of social thought and of the intellectual condition of Slovakia at large.
