Summary/Abstract: The Estonian Journalist Association was founded in 1919 on the initiative of journalists. Why in 1919, which was such a complicated year for the young Estonian Republic? What, if any, were the previous attempts to establish such an association? The article highlights the days when the Estonian Journalist Association was born and the period immediately preceding that event.
