Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the legal and political context regarding the origin of money in the Croatian political space. Namely, the paper presents a historical and legal review starting from the Ancient Times, e.g. the oldest Croatian money of king Andrew II to the present official Croatian currency. In addition to the legal and historical aspects of the official Croatian money, the paper also discusses fate of Croatian money after Croatia’s accession to the European Union and to the European Monetary Union, i.e. the Eurozone.
