Summary/Abstract: The present paper analyzes the categories of alterity within the biblical narratives in relation with the prevalence of a blood imaginary. Due to the differentiation between blood and flesh set up by Leviticus – For the life of the flesh is in the blood – there are many divine prescriptions, interdictions and taboos. By being acknowledged as a powerful substance, blood entails the potential of acceptance or exclusion of the human being in and from the community. The «Other» is altogether the one that shed blood or made use of its power against the divine order and legislation.
