Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the semantic relations in the field of homonyms of the Russian and English languages, namely, disjunctions, conjunctions and intersections. The analysis of Russian and Polish homonymous pairs revealed two reasons of their semantic differences: 1) semantic divergence of the words with the same etymon, and 2) phonetic convergence.
