Summary/Abstract: All along the history of Romanian music, Jewish musicians have assumed as a duty of honor the principle of cultural emancipation and the constant promotion of the romantic aesthetics of mid-19th century. The study explores the preferred themes in the liturgical-theatrical experience, under the influence of the Haskala movement. From Alexandru Flechtenmacher and George Stephanescu, to Anatol Vieru, Petru Stoianov, Maya Badian or Ludovic Feldman, also considering the aesthetics of George Enescu or Mauriciu Cohen Lanaru, the Romanian musical dramatic area is explored in its most significant moments.
