Summary/Abstract: One of the criteria in defining an international organization is its legal personality. In this article, the ways that international legal personality is acquired have been explained. It will be seen that some international orga-nizations established by a treaty do not have international personality, while some is being devoid of a treaty-basis do have international legal personality. To put it differently, there are a plethora of conventional organizations that fail to satisfy legal personality requirement. This article portrays different means through which organizations enjoy legal personality and calls for questioning the traditional paradigm of the definition of the term international organiza-tions.
