Summary/Abstract: A book review of “Authors of Polish Cinema”, volumes 1 to 3. Zwierzchowski, calling this publication a specific lexicon of Polish cinema, points to the selective and subjective nature of the book. The book nonetheless presents us with an interesting overview of Polish cinema and is a good departure point for future research. This guide to selected sections of Polish cinema ignores the often described names of the best known Polish filmmakers, in order to increase the range of the map of Polish cinema and remind us of artists, who, according to the authors, have not found a deserved place in the memory of people whose writing is dedicated to film nor in the memory of members of the audience. The subsequent volumes of the book include both reports and essays, which – according to the author of the review – make one consider the state of the history of Polish cinema and the style in which it is in pursued.
