Summary/Abstract: The postcolonial studies tend to become the unique reference when it comes to understanding African realities. The article attempts to bring to light several possibilities of approaching African studies through postcommunist theory. First of all, the article takes Africa as a legitimate object of study for the postcomunist researchers. On the one hand, adopting such a perspective also helps covering some lacunae from postcolonial studies. On the other hand the postcomunist studies allow the deconstruction of some preconceived ideas, especially the ones regarding the political initiative of Africans.
