Summary/Abstract: The article gives a detailed account of the decisions about and activities of the UN peace-keeping forces (UNPROFOR) in Croatia since the end of 1991. The author analyses the reasons for the failure to accomplish its tasks of UNPROFOR in Croatia and demonstrates that the main obstacle has been the refusal of the Serbian side to cooperate in the implementation of the original UNPROFOR mandate. He argues that the question of prolonging the UNPROFOR mandate offers a chance to re-examine and redefine it according to experience to date.
