Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the significance of different dimensions of identity in the context of European enlargement and globalisation. The analysis touches upon the subject of identity, which is treated as a processual, dynamic and contextual phenomenon. According to contemporary deliberations, it is risky to state that an identity is something that one can possess. It is better to speak of a continuous process of identification that allows individuals and groups to define themselves or others.
