Summary/Abstract: After 2004 the United Kingdom became the main destination country for Polish migrants. As a result of the increasing inflow of Polish migrants to the UK over the last few years they have formed a population of more than half of million. What is specific about these migrants is the quite young age structure: migrants’ average age is younger than the population of the United Kingdom as a whole, it is younger than the population of Poland as well. The statistical data indicates, therefore, that the outflow from Poland has been highly selective in relation to migrants’ age. Data on labour market and the increasing number of cases of Polish mothers giving birth in the UK seem to suggest that post-accession migration is a permanent one.
