On Self-Censorship in Totalitarianism. The Case of Nichifor Crainic

Summary/Abstract: Nichifor Crainic illustrates the social and literary destiny imposed by the totalitarian government to a generation of intellectuals. Memoirs written in exile (1945-1946) were rewritten between 1963- 1964. The amended version, required for publication by the authorities, was never published. This article presents the rapport established between the second variant of the text and the subsequent corrections made by the memoirist on the manuscript preserved in the Romanian Academy Library (library code A3515).
