Summary/Abstract: In the article is considered that the Soviet-American relations in the foreign policy of Mikhail Gorbachev were prioritized. Author analyzes the contents of the most important meetings between Gorbachev and U. S. President Ronald Reagan, held in Geneva (November 1985.), Reykjavik (October 1986), Washington DC (December 1987), Moscow (May-June 1986.). In 1985–1988 there was an improvement in Soviet- American relations. It was succeeded to come to an agreement on the elimination of intermediate and short-range missiles for the first time.
