Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to the use of music in the classes of Russian as a foreign language. It describes its features, quality, location and functions in the classroom. The paper investigates vocal and instrumental music, where live musical accompaniment - a teacher accompaniment (occasionally soundtrack) is regarded as language- mediator in the learning process, as an element of emotional effects on humans, as a powerful source of motivation and versatile, efficient means of learning the language. A vocal (verbal) part of it is more devoted to work on the language in various aspects (phonetic, lexical, stylistic, etc..), although the above musical properties are also present.
