NEW CROATIAN EPITAPHS IN BROTNJO

Summary/Abstract: The paper consists of two parts: the first part defines the epitaph as a linguistic fixation conveying a message about the deceased or something else related to death, establishes a tripartite typologisation of epitaphs according to the lexical and textual side, and brings a short overview of epitaph practice in the Croatian area. In the second part the authors deal with new epitaphs in the area of Brotnjo, and at the end bring a selection of literalised and aphoristic epitaphs found in the graveyards about Brotnjo.
