Summary/Abstract: The article investigates theoretical aspects and practical problems of defining and measurement of service-learning impact on student learning outcomes. It stresses that analyses of students learning outcomes have to follow the research of main factors which determine service-learning outcomes, namely, the stage of service-learning experience analyses, impute, which is comprised of a set of individual student background characteristics at the time of entry into the institution, environment, which refers to various programs, policies, faculty, peers, and educational experiences and outcomes, which refer to the student characteristic after exposure to the environment. The typology and variables which describe the impact of service-learning on students learning outcomes are discussed in the paper as well. The article analyses problems of Lithuania higher education which were revealed by many research and surveys and argues that many educational problems recently existing at universities could be solved by applying service learning as educational methodologies.
