"Postilla " by Mikalojus Daukša Famous and Unknown

Summary/Abstract: The article precedes a quite innovative publication of one chosen sermon from a seemingly very well-known edition, a monument of early Lithuanian literature - the so-called "Daukša's Postilla" (1599), which is a translation of The Minor Postilla by Polish Jezuit Jakub Wujek. The problem is, that the only text from this book, which is really well-known in contemporary Lithuania, is it's foreword, written by Daukša himself and famous for it's progressive ideas and manifest spirit of Renaissance. The homilies and sermons, that is, an actual content of the book, are not known at all, as well as the fact, that ideologically they belong to a different cultural age - the age of baroque. So the publication is meant to make this fact obvious. It's innovative, because the text of the sermon is presented in two versions: the traditional, transponed, and re-written in modern Lithuanian, which could be very useful for the historians of literature and culture.
