Summary/Abstract: Paper focuses on historical consciousness of primary and secondary school history teachers. In this respect, the study focuses on latent weaknesses or challenges rela¬ted to legitimization of history as a school subject, self-perception of history teachers, taboos and especially the problem of teaching modern history. Study is based on empirical data collected during five focus group interviews which were analyzed using qualitative methodology.
