Needs of time

Summary/Abstract: The struggle against eurocentrism on one hand and blindly following of modernism and westernism on the other hand sometime have led to extravagancy and intemperance in the Islamic countries. Professor Morteza Motahhari, a contemporary Iranian intellectual thinkers, tries to keep balance between these two extremes. He criticizes the opinion which says: “Everything that is modern it is right” and explains the meanings of “demands of time”. In this article we shall see that the preservation of one’s own tradition does not necessarily mean rejection of the right results of modern civilization.
