Summary/Abstract: The main aim of the article is an evaluation of the selected aspects of regional development in the light of globalization and regionalization in the world economy. The article is about relations between regional development, economic growth, regional economic disparities and influence of the regional integration on the economic cohesion. The subject for a discussion is the right balance between the equality and effectiveness. The key issue is an answer to the question who and how to support.
