Summary/Abstract: The access of foreign financial institutions to national financial markets is one of the factors affecting the progress of financial globalization. The precondition of this process is to eliminate restrictions in the free movement of capital and freedom to provide financial services on the national markets. The liberalization of capital movements is very often considered together with the liberalization of the financial services sector. Due to the fact that these two processes sometimes penetrate each other, the boundary between them is difficult to identify. The aim of the paper is to analyze the interactions between the two specified types of liberalization and to identify the causes of the difficulties in the separation of both phe-nomena.
