Summary/Abstract: Audiovisual mass media –especially television and cinema– dominate the contemporary socio-cultural milieu. Their diversity could operate as a creative dynamic in current multicultural educative context. This paper focuses on some theoretical as well as methodological issues concerning the way that analyzing popular films could establish cultural awareness and multi-vocality in the classroom. Both music and image mediascapes provide multi-ethnic echoes and visions of local and global reality that engage children in critical dialogue and self-reflection.
