Summary/Abstract: Analysing the policy of social reform pushed froeward by the German government under Gerhard Schröder the author discovers rather dismal prospects particularly for women. Equality of treatment anyhow is only partly achieved in Germany, and compared to welfare state institutions in other countries like Sweden and to their impact on mental structures of the society Germany comes off quite badly.
