Summary/Abstract: Being guided by the theoretical preconditions for emotional expression identification, the experimental design of this study sets the following goal: Diagnostics of ability to identify emotional states in stylized facial expressions, lying on the bipolar continuum "happiness/unhappiness" as a non-verbal stimulating material to identify more subtle nuances of emotional states. Stimulus material in the form of pictures has been used (Stoitsova, T., 1998). Result processing includes frequency and content analysis. Our study shows that children know more words for negative emotional states. On the other hand, when actual emotional state of children is perceived — the second task of our study — they definitely define themselves in the positive part of continuum.
