Summary/Abstract: Starting from a self-definition given by Caragiale, who claims to be a "sentimental writer", Ileana Oancea guides the reader in a brief but interesting itinerary through Caragiale's personal writings. The letters sent to his friends, his enormous appreciation of them (most of all Eminescu) and his close tonality, full of affection and emotion, reveal him to be not only the sharp-witted, sarcastic analyst that everybody knows, but also a deeply sentimental nature.
