Three conceptions of reciprocity

Summary/Abstract: The classic anthropological and sociological problem of reciprocity is the main object of this article. Reciprocity is the basis of social and cultural life; it functions, as the mechanism motivating human behaviors. There are a lot of conceptions of reciprocity. The author shows three of them. In the first conception, Bronisław Malinowski describes the rule of reciprocity, basing on the psychical and social compulsion of giving and receiving the gifts and services. In the second conception, Claude Lévi-Strauss describes reciprocity together with unaware psychic structure and rule of reciprocity. And at last, Alvin W. Gouldner describes norm of reciprocity.
