V. I. Tolmachevsky: destiny of the intelligentsia member of Tver Karelians

Summary/Abstract: The article shows the revolutionary ideas’ spread among rural intel-ligentsia of the upper Volga river Karelians in the beginning of the 20th century on the example of V. I. Tolmachevsky’s destiny, the deputy of the second State Duma and the member of Social Revolutionary party. Atten-tion is paid to the struggle measures of central and rural authorities with revolutionary mood in the town of Tver, in the regions of compact living of Tver Karelians. The acts of insubordinations of Karelian peasantry to the authorities are shown. The forms of revolutionary agitation made by the left parties in the regions of Karelia, and in particular the activity of V. I. Tol-machevsky in this direction are analyzed
