On the Borrowings from Arabic, Persian and Russian in Tatar Riddles

Summary/Abstract: Riddles are one of the most important elements of folk culture. They have many clues showing neighborhood relations, such as other folk literature products. This study deals with borrowed elements in Tatar riddles and borrowings form Arabic, Persian and Russian are studied according to their phonetic and semantic properties. In this study, totally 482 borrowed elements are evaluated. The distribution of borrowings are as follows: Arabic 250 (Tatar Bilmecelerindeki Arapça, Farsça ve Rusça Alıntılar Üzerine 2), Farsça 101 ({82417D0B-8D9F-45BA-8B88-07783E3F410A}1), Russian 131 ({82417D0B-8D9F-45BA-8B88-07783E3F410A}7).
