Summary/Abstract: After H. Keipert finding that Bernolak's Latin adaptation of Slovak Grammar (Slovenská graJ1Ultika) is consistently based on Schlögeľs Grammatica germanica (which was a common methodical source of Slovak textbooks of German at the end of the 18th century), the author analyses Anton Bernolak's philological works in broader relations. At first, he places his work in ideological movement of the 18th century. Next, he notices his ideological-philological resources (e.g. national-revival ideology, religious and national tolerance); enlightened rational philosophy is represented by the logical grammatical concept. The basic ideological-philological principle of the Bernolak's works is the ambition to codify a norm of the standard Slovak as a nation-wide standard language of the Slovaks. In the last section, fundamental resources of Bernolak's prescriptive codification are described and working procedures and methodological aspects are mentioned. The author mainly looks into the connection of Schlögeľs Grammatica germanica to the Bernolak's philological work. Linguistics. History of standard Slovak. Complex view at the philological works of A. Bernolák. Filiations of Schlögel and Bernolak grammar.
