Summary/Abstract: A. Muliarčikas (1995), P. Karoblis and other scientists state that doing track-and-field athletics exercises in the most optimal and effective way students may develop such physical characteristics as speed, strength, flexibility, agility and many other competencies and skills necessary in life. These are the means of overall development of constitution and health improvement. Exercises of track-and-field athletics are the most accessible kind of physical activity which does not require much material expense (Muliarčikas et al., 1995). Hypothesis. In Senior classes of general education school not enough attention is paid to teaching movements of track-and-field athletics. Teachers do not want or maybe do not know how to use many exercises of track-and-field athletics developing not only students’ physical potential but also their personalities therefore students are unable to comply to even minimum requirements of Physical Training standards. The aim of the research. To analyze specificity of teaching senior schoolchildren track-and-field athletics movements in Physical Education classes. Having analyzed specificity of teaching track-and-field athletics movements in Physical Education classes it was stated that a poor level of mastering the main movements of track-and-field athletics later influences the efficiency of teaching other activities, e.g. basketball, volleyball, football because these activities include track-and-field athletics movements, such as running, take-off, jump, etc. One of the reasons of unpopularity of track-and-field athletics exercises would be teachers’ indifference giving Physical Education classes and monotony of exercises. Students’ attitude towards track-and-field athletics would change if they gained in Physical Education classes enough knowledge about usefulness of track-and-field athletics exercises for constitution and if a variety of the content of given classes was larger.
