United Nations – The Leader in Global Action Against Terrorism?

Summary/Abstract: The article presents United Nations activities in strengthening the global coalition for action against international terrorism as today it stands for the most serious threat to the international system of collective security. The attacks carried out in the United States of America on 11 September, 2001, have indicated the range of menace of terrorist actions and the necessity of the joint action of governments worldwide in confronting this global phenomenon. The requests of an efficient global action against terrorism initiated strengthening and broadening of the organizational structure of the United Nations resulting in formation of Counter Terrorism Committee, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Global Programme Against Terrorism.
