The Industry of Cluj City in the Eve of Nationalization

Summary/Abstract: This paper is dealing with the issue of industrial life in the city of Cluj, between 1944 and 1948. Based on an exhaustive research, on Archive materials and Articles in Specialty Journals, it tries to offer a general image of main enterprises, main characteristics of industrial production process, problems related to production etc. At the end of the presentation, the study examines the phenomenon of unemployment too, characteristic for the respective period. Since the subject fits in the field of Economic History, the presentation tends to be in an objective manner, focusing especially on production data, also placing them in that period’s social and economical circumstances. Even if the industrial life in Cluj never overcomes a Regional character, its evolution was a stable, constant one. It was also characterized by a large scale of variety, determined by the Rules of the Local Market.
