Summary/Abstract: This paper is a detailed analysis of the way the officers of the Operational Service of the Securitate conducted arrests and searches, and the instructions that were handed out by the leadership of the political police, in order to regulate these operations. Based on the documents saved in the archives of the C.N.S.A.S., respectively the ones wrote as a result of the work analysis sessions, one can realize the way these actions were carried out or not. This paper tries to advance numbers of the people arrested and incarcerated in the Gheorghiu-Dej period, based on the statistics of the Securitate, highlighting that these are often in contradiction both with the evaluations of ex-political inmates, as well as with repression data from other communist states.
