The Journalism Studies - an educational model in Poland

Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with journalism studies at the University of Wrocław. The radical transformation of the political, social and economic system, which took place in Poland after 1990 meant that there was an obvious need to rebuild the media system, which was formed during socialism A new system for educating students of journalism, PR, was thus required in the new political and social reality in Poland. The mass media had to be reformed. University at Wrocław was one of the first schools in Poland to recognize the necessity to educate students of journalism. Building a modern model of education, which is characterized by openness to new contents and includes all areas of contemporary communication science, and building a professional team of teachers is the source of the achievements of the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication at the University of Wroclaw.
