Summary/Abstract: A more integral view of a scientific discipline such as sociology, which in a structural and socially relevant sense and on a wider scale is gaining more significance, imposes the necessity for its founding, framing and due relevance. There is nothing more natural, in said sense, than to focus a researchers attention to the institutional and professional development of sociology in a concrete society, in this case Bosnian- Herzegovinian. That would provide a more complete view of the development of sociology in Bosnian society. Aside from giving a review of the institutional development of sociology in BH society over time, it is necessary to point out the basic structural markings, in a sociological sense, of specific institutional solutions. Also crucial are the societal markings of the actual moment in which certain institutional segments of the development of sociology as a science were formed in. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first organizational institutional forms appear in the 60's which is in a specific chronological sense later than in other social ambiances (Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia), which than formed the institutional frame of the space (both in terms of state as in terms of sociology) Bosnia and Herzegovina was pointed to. Unlike the previously mentioned social ambiances which led the way in institutional achievements in the field of sociology, Bosnia and Herzegovina previously constituted organizational segments of development of sociology – before certain other ambiances (Macedonia, Montenegro) which were also, in that period, pointed to the same scientific, sociological and state circle. The institutionalization of sociology and its practical applicability are the essence of the professional system of this discipline (Parsons). The institutional framework of sociology in Bosnian society is very complex and meaningful. It is constituted of: faculty departments and divisions with its complexity and grasp, institutes, magazines and other publications, professional associations and societies, scientific and professional gatherings, the possibilities of engagement for sociologists etc. The study and research of the content of institutional development of sociology in Bosnian society enables the viewing of currents and constitutive structural segments of the constitutive frames and development of sociology both as a science and an academic discipline and finally as a profession.
