Some Aspects of the Agronym Composition

Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the toponyms of Telšiai region. It is the first work of this format in the Lithuanian onomastics. Such investigations show the specifics of toponym composition of micro-region and compositional peculiarities of the discussed toponym classes. The research object is to investigate the composition of toponym subclass of Telšiai region acronyms and to define the most productive types of their composition. Descriptive, comparative and statistical research methods were used in this paper. The agronyms were collected during the period of 1985-1987 in Telšiai region during the expeditions organized by Vilnius University. The agronym analysis of Telšiai region uses 2218 examples. These agronyms are analyzed using grammatical-structural classification given by Vanagas.
