Summary/Abstract: The internationalization of retail is an objective, dynamically evolving process, involving more and more markets and regions. This article examines and analyzes this complex process and its degree of manifestation in the Bulgarian market. Different methods used by large retailers to enter international markets are outlined, where the one most applied - organic expansion stands out. The progress of the internationalization of retail in Bulgaria and its impact on the concentration of commercial activity is traced. The direct relationship between the degree of internationalization and the level of competition in this sector is proved. The impact of retailers on other participants in the distribution channels - providers and consumers is appraised.
