Summary/Abstract: Abstract: Guest Performances in Hungary. About the 1958 Hungarian Tour of the Szekler Theatre The Szekler Theatre had a very successful tour in Hungary in 1958. They performed the most appealing elements of their repertoire. The program included a Romanian author (Mihail Sebastian), a Transylvanian Hungarian (Károly Kós), a Western play (Richard Nash), a classic Russian text (Gorki) and an almost-classic Hungarian drama (Sándor Bródy). However, the accomplishment of the cultural contact was somehow shadowed by the memory of the 1956 Hungarian revolution. It is not only the itinerary of the tour that is strange, but is also hard to evaluate the reception of the company relying on Hungarian press materials. Besides the official releases, the memory of the tour is also preserved in some un-official documents.
