Summary/Abstract: The study concentrates on the problem of governance and opposition in Singapore. In the case of this micro-state there is no generally accepted consensus of political scientists dealing with the characteristics of the regime. ls it democracy, non-democratic regime, or we witness the regime that is outside any typology? The main task of this article is to take a stand on this question. The author analyses both the methods of work of extremely efficient government and on the contrary the situation of extremely powerless opposition. Also the basic frameworks of political and party systems in Singapore are analysed. He concludes that party system in Singapore can be characterized as a system with predominant party and the whole regime as semi-authoritarian. lt is far from the western type of liberal democracy, but we cannot rank it as non-democratic regime.
