Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the well-known masterpiece of Gérard de Nerval, Sylvie and the author’s interest in the art of poetry from the point of view of the aspect than the contents, the word « mélodieux » being the key – word of his entire work. Sylvie is the most beatiful illustration of a poetical reform that the poet proposed. We notice the preference of Nerval for the folk songs and a rejection of the perfect lessons from the Conservatory. The new poetical art proposed by Nerval , an art centred on music, became a symbol for the XIXth century’s poets.
