The problem of cultural identity in the translation of the children's literature

Summary/Abstract: This article aims at examining various theories about translation of literature for children. The author explores several articles published in such magazines as: Translittérature, Meta, Nous voulons lire and Atelier de traduction. She studies the difficulty of translating the cultural identity of the original text expressed by cultural references, names and nicknames, cultural allusions. The translation of a text for children should not be full of notes, but it must not diminish or suppress the cultural dimension and the cultural marks of the original text.
