Summary/Abstract: The metaphor of emergence is often used in francophone and postcolonial studies. It aims to enable to think the emergence of new literary productions which feature their relocation would be against all forms of territorial assignment. The review of this metaphor quite quickly shows its limits. If it can be used to describe a phenomenon, but it is not an acceptable explanation to the extent that it does not pose problems related to literary history and the emergence on the literary scene of New World Literature.
